Eoin Hughes was born in the city of Barcelona in the 70’s to an Irish father and a Catalan mother. He was brought up between the Pyrenees Mountains, Barcelona, Dublin and the Irish countryside; he developed a keen interest in the arts throughout his life and was introduced from an early age to black and white laboratory photography by his father.
In 1998 Eoin Hughes moved to Ireland and starts studying Life Drawing at the Dublin Trinity College Arts Workshop, the informal studio class established in the older artist’s atelier in the late 80s.
In Ireland he developed a background in graphic design, web development, multimedia, flash vector animation and film. He holds various qualifications including Film Studies at the Digital Skills Academy in Dublin.
He currently studies 3rd year of a B.s in Fine Arts in D.I.T College Dublin. During his studies he absorbs the acute attention to the structure and form of the figure associated with Eoin’s sculptures, paintings, video installations and photography, subsequently refining his own visual and conceptual vocabulary that has emerged through his focus on the points of intersection between both liminal architecture and that pertaining to the structure of the human figure, heterotopic configurations and spatial analysis. He currently lives and works in Dublin.
